Summing Up Sony's Problems

Ok, before I say anything else, I feel obligated to point out that the graphic isn’t mine: it’s actually the cover image for the following story and I had nothing to do with it.
We’ve been accused of having a bias against Sony here at GayGamer. To be perfectly honest, I have no problem admitting that I’ve become jaded against the corporate monolith after all their recent PR fiascos and apparent denial regarding the fallicies of their admittedly swanky PS3. That does not mean, though, that the rest of the staff here shares my opinions regarding either Sony or their products. I honestly can’t say what they believe, but I can say that Aeropause seems to have an even firmer dislike of the Playstation creators than I do.
You see, Aeropause has published an incredibly blunt article entitled, “A Five Point Case Against Sony,” which features a surprisingly in-depth look at Sony… not just on behalf of the PS3, but the PSP as well:
Throughout these points, you’ll see that I don’t address the main hardware issues that have been cropping up for the PS3 since launch (Bluetooth controllers bugging out, upscaling issues, disc-loading problems, etc.) because all three consoles have had their troubles. At this point, their level of overall quality seems to be pretty equal.
I’ll focus on the five points that run through my head every time I wonder why I don’t want a PS3. Five reasons why I now believe that Sony was in the right place at the right time with the PS2. Five reasons why the industry’s thoughts about Sony having no place in the video game industry back when the PS1 was released, were probably right.
Is James’ article correct in its assumptions? Honestly, I don’t know. I think it makes some excellent points, but I also think that recent assumptions about how Sony might be getting out of the gaming market are a little too presumptuous right now. Ask me in a year or so: I might be willing to venture a guess on the subject then.

AUGH! Source article is retarded, XLink Kai was CREATED for playing backups online by tunneling the game’s requests to a different server. What’s the point of using the service if you can play your pressed discs online with a Live Silver account?
Kai is not a very big community either, and doesn’t have support for 1/4 of any given console’s internet-enabled titles. The article makes it sound like a rampant cut-throat pirate haven, and the sole cause of Sony’s PSP woes.
Downgrading the PSP’s firmware (if that’s still the way you have to do it) and understanding the way the files have to be set up on the memory card, as well as where to find the ISOs in the first place are a little too complicated for the average internet user. If you want to chalk up the ‘unsuccess’ to anything, chalk it up to the AMAZINGLY UNINTERESTING titles.
I don’t think that piracy is killing the PSP, the shitty games are. Oh, and the overpriced UMD movies. And the fact that Sony tries to pawn it off as some kind of complete portable entertainment system when it doesn’t really do anything perfectly.
And the PS3…just ugh. Sony needs to take a step back and stop being money-hungry douchenozzles and make a product that doesn’t suck and is affordable.
Here’s a reason to say no to Sony…They don’t support the gamers and it’s time Americans start supporting our own products. The Japanese have fierce loyalty to their consoles and it’s probably time we do the same. XBox 360, while no where near perfect is offering very good games today. Stop throwing money at a company that could care less about you and who only cares about it’s own countries happiness.
Point #1: As stated, the PSP is being Killed by “Meh” games. There is no Nintendogs, Brain Age, or “ZOMG I’m a casual gamer and need this” games.
Point #2: Anyone want to take bets as to when/if we see MGS4 on the 360? I think that the lack of system exclusives threatens both Sony and MS, as their libraries are becoming more and more the same. Somewhere in Kyoto, right now, Iwata-san is laughing.
Point #3: Yeah, the online (from what I’ve seen) isn’t that good, but it’s free and not as broken as they are making it out.
Point #4: Did this point make sense to anyone? If so, please explain it me. All I got was something about fanboyism.
Point #5: The difference between Blu-Ray and DVD is that when the ps2 launched people were sick of VHS tapes. People aren’t sick of DVD yet. Say it loud, say it proud. It’s Beta-ray!
xlink kai is not really made for playing pirated psp games, it’s made for playing psp games that only support local wireless multiplayer originally. it was made for playing pirated xbox live games, though
I really wish more people would start hearing what this guy is saying. There is no reason to buy a ps3, not for the games, not for the hardware. None. I honestly believe this is sony’s last outing, and i’m definately not alone, considering analysts, people paid to predict, are saying the same thing. Goodbye sony, you shall not be missed.
John: See, I’d support the 360 if not for that whole “Only one good game” thing it has going on. I’m not buying a PS3 until Metal Gear Solid 4 hits, anyway (and by then more of the announced games for it I want will have hit), maybe by that time the 360 will have more to offer me than just Dead Rising.
Oh, and kudos for your borederline racist reason for not buying Sony : P
