The Secret Of Assassin's Creed Revealed, By Veronica Mars
Ok not Veronica Mars herself, the actress Kristin Bell who plays the eponymous Mars, recently had a little chat with the IGN TV folks. She spoke about her role in Veronica Mars and her upcoming movie Fanboys, but most importantly she divulged some interesting information concerning the upcoming Assassin’s Creed. Bell had a significant voice role in the game, and had her body scanned into a character model.
During the interview, when she spoke of the game:
“It’s sort of based on the research that’s sort of happening now, about the fact that your genes might be able to hold memory. And you could argue semantics and say it’s instinct, but how does a baby bird know to eat a worm, as opposed to a cockroach, if its parents don’t show it? And it’s about this science company trying to, Matrix-style, go into people’s brains and find out an ancestor who used to be an assassin, and sort of locate who that person is. It’s very, very cool, and I’ve seen all the graphics for it.”
This explains all of the “jumpy” animation in the game, and the modern anomalies. It was a great move to release an important plot point about the game during an interview with one of the voice actresses. There has been rumors floating around for some time about Assassin’s Creed, now we can rest assured that we have some grasp about the nature of the game. I believe that there are some more tricks up Ubisoft’s sleeve that we won’t find out until the game ships.

I don’t believe I’m saying this but… She sold it to me.
Never watched Veronica Mars, seen just one trailer for Assassins Creed and… well, I’m 21 and she sounded like a too-cute-2-refuse daughter saying stuff I really think is cool and intelligent but actually has no idea of how brilliant it (and the daughter) truly is.
Hmm, I’ll trade you Kristin Bell for Jade Raymond….on second thought, I’ll take Altair any day (almost forgot I’m a gay guy, heh).
First time I saw that ‘jumpy’ anomaly in the gameplay video I knew something was up. Wonder if this means we’ll get to play assassins during various historical time periods other than the 11th century, or if it’ll be primarily a flashback. Whoah.
I’m pretty sure a baby bird knows enough to eat worms and not roaches because worms are what their mom vomits into their waiting mouths before they can hunt on their own.
I think Veronica would have known that too. I heart Veronica, in that no-roofies-required, gay-boy-crush kind of way.
Okay okay, I’ll buy Kristin Bell AND Jade Raymond a martini if they give me Altair for a few nights.
The game looks amazing, and that weird after-death screen has def. got me interested.
Man, I love Kristin Bell. I a gay boy way that is.
Her part in Reefer Madness was great and Veronica Mars is such a great, inteligent, non viewer-patronising show.
This stuff about AC sound a bit weird though. So if I get this right, there’s going to be an element of sci-fi to it? I though it was just going to be a historical type game. Not that I mind. The gameplay seems fun enough, so I’m probably going to get it for that alone.
