TIME Magazine Calls Playstation 3 A "Bust"

The recent issue of TIME Magazine had an article about the biggest busts of 2006. Put to rest the notion that this article was about a row of racks that would put Dolly Parton’s to shame. No, they listed the disappointments of Snakes on a Plane, OJ’s tell all book If I Did It, some lame show called Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and to round it off the launch of the Playstation 3. Here is what they had to say:
The big story in computer games this year was HOW TO BLOW A HUGE LEAD, by Sony. Its PlayStation 2 was the champ in the last round of the console wars. This time Sony bet on a chip called the Cell and a disc format called Blu-ray. They’re probably awesome, but how would anybody know? The PS3 is hideously expensive—it goes for up to $600—and Sony manufactured only a piddling few hundred thousand for the U.S., fewer for Japan. Plus it’s hard to write games for; the launch titles were lame. You know you’re in trouble when you get beat by something called a Wii.
Damn! No they didn’t just call Sony out on being outrageously expensive with a lame set of launch titles. Isn’t that what everyone’s been saying all along? Sony, get it together and release a system-seller already.

Um…Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is one of my new favorite shows. How was it a bust? And, uh, boo Sony.
this is pretty mild compared to the name calling, and shit talking Nintendo was subjected to over the last years.. i’m glad their on top of their game again.
wasn’t the sega saturn hard to write for? hmmm i wonder if history will repeat itself…
bless your heart for the dolly pic, tootsie roll
That has to be the best excuse to post a pic of the lovely Miss Parton ever!
Toots, I love you, but you’re gonna have to die for that Studio 60 comment
My lower back hurts just thinking about that picture.
Studio 60 isn’t a bad show, but I think you kind of have to be a little obsessed with “behind the scenes Hollywood stuff” to get it.
Also, while I loved Sports Night and West Wing (well, the first 2 seasons), those two shows had something in common. The show within a show on Sports Night was a good sports show. The president on West Wing was a good president.
The show within a show on Studio 60 is almost embarrassingly unfunny. People tune in expecting a show about a comedy show to be funny once in a while…. and it’s just not. It’s like someone tuned in to SNL during one of their dry periods, those long years when we all just wished it would limp off and die somewhere, and went, “Let’s make a show about this!”
I’ll keep watching till they cancel it…. which I imagine will be sometime during February sweeps.
YAY DOLLY I LOVE YOU
yay! Sony Bashing! :P
I swear I thought that quoted text read “HOW TO BLOW A HUGE LOAD”
Nice Dolly pic!
