Toys R Us To Take In More Wii...and PS3s

NextGen.biz is reporting that Toys R Us will be receiving “thousands” of Wiis and 6,000 PS3s in the week leadings up to Christmas. In addition to that, 30,000 Xbox 360 units as well as 40,000 GameBoy Advance (apparently 641,000 GBAs were sold in November in the US) units will be arriving. NextGen notes that Toys “R” Us has 587 stores in the US.
Though no exact figure on how many Wiis TRU will be getting has been released, I think it would be alot since Nintendo seems pretty determined to ship 4 million Wiis worldwide before the end of the year. So…good luck getting your Wii, 360 or PS3!! ...and try to not harass people. Oh, and don’t let that scary giraffe rape you with bundles and super high prices!

Several of my friends are buying GBAs for their really young (we’re talking 5 – 7 years old) nieces and nephews. Now that the GBA is pretty cheap, it seems to be the system of choice for the young’ins. I think people are hesitant to give this age group a DS, as the touchscreen or clamshell design might be viewed as more fragile or sophisticated.
Yeah, I gave my niece a GBA for her 5th birthday, along with a GBA movie player and a bunch of her own DVD’s ripped to GBM format. I also gave her a couple games (Dora and Harvest Moon) but to my knowledge, she never played any of them…. but as a DVD player and “stop her from grabbing her sister’s DS” device, it’s very effective even a year and a half later.
I’d be even more likely to get her one now that they’re so cheap and have a better screen. But when she hits 8, I might just get her a pink DS. And maybe “Bratz® Ponyz™”. Who doesn’t like “ponyz”?
