World AIDS Day

December 1st, as many of you are aware, is World AIDS Day; today presents an opportunity for Earthlings everywhere to join up in the fight against HIV and AIDS, and to help the nearly 40 million people living with HIV worldwide, to help stop the spread of HIV and end the prejudices that contribute to or help stop the fight against HIV/AIDS. We’d like to take a moment out of our busy gaming schedule and acknowledge this important day. If you’re so inclined, please take a gander at some of the ways you can contribute to the cause: visit WorldAIDSDay.org or Bono and friends’ Red, which turns materialism on its head and uses the power of marketing and brand recognition to help fund the effort against AIDS in Africa.

If your interest is still not piqued, mobile game developer Werd Interactive is selling a special version of their Tiles game, called Tiles Red Ribbon, and is donating at least one dollar from each game sold to AIDS charities. Try it out if it’s your bag…the game supposedly works on Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Sanyo, Sharp and SonyEricsson phones, but I’m unclear as to its international availability.
