Blizzard's Next Move & More

It's been only a week since Blizzard's Vice President of Development, Itzik Ben Bassat, dropped a few crumbs about what to expect next from the blockbuster game house:
“We haven’t forgotten that we have these two franchises, and what I can tell you is that I look forward to stand here in a few years, or whenever it’s going to be, and celebrate with you the launch of the next Starcraft or the next Diablo.”
But y'all, that was last week already. What kind of speculative vague goodies do we get this week? It's a good thing you asked. In an interview with Empire, Bassat discusses Burning Crusade, South Park, WoW's numerous female audience (We snared us a Panda), WoW the film (really? Who's going to play 8 million grammatically-challenged pallys?), and what not to expect from Blizzard's next MMO.
That's a crapload of stuff, and not a real answer to be found.
But never fear, here's a selection of Bassat's brass ones...
The South Park guys came to us and said “we’re planning the first episode of the new season, which is usually an exciting one. Would you like to do something?” We were all geeked out about South Park so we said “of course! Are you kidding?” It’s a very funny episode, I love it. People who didn’t know what Warcraft was but liked South Park all came to check out the game.
We’ve been working on that movie for years! If people only knew how many years we put in to closing this movie deal. We’re very happy with our progress though, it was really difficult for us as a company to find some we trusted to work with. With Legendary, well, they did Batman Returns and the new Superman so we knew that was a company we wanted to work with. Bringing Warcraft to the movies is the next step for us, we want to let people bring World of Warcraft into other aspects of their lives. After all, we’re competing for people’s entertainment time, whether it’s listening to music watching TV or going to the cinema. Our goal is to provide the best entertainment out there.
When we announce our next MMORPG it’s not going to be another WoW - we’re not a company that tends to tread the same ground. It’ll be something innovative and new that really brings entertainment to another level.
Well, it's not like we've never heard that line before or anything. It's pretty standard "suit" hooey, but if any team can pull it off, it's the talent at Blizzard. We're waiting. Your move, tough guy!

World of Starcraft? *sigh*
World of Starcraft, anyone? *sigh*
if i recall correctly, in the book "the art of warcraft" (released right before WC3 hit shelves i think) im pretty sure blizzard said they would like to make a warcraft movie someday, since their cinematics are so amazing (especially the one where arthas returns to his father with frostmourne, that was sweet :P)
The CGI movies are pretty sweet, yes. But from what I've heard, the Warcraft movie is going to be....ummm....live action.
