Coded Arms: Assault... Dead In The Water?

Say it ain’t so! Could Coded Arms: Assault not appear on the PS3?! Ever?! Oh, wait, that’s right: the Coded Arms franchise is a lackluster series of games that has failed to really impress anyone playing the PSP, so perhaps this is a good thing:

...apparently Konami has decided that CODEDARMS: ASSAULT [sic] isn’t worth it.

The origin of this rumor is supposedly Famitsu magazine (I live too far from Japan to subscribe). If true it would be a shame for the PS3 to lose another game, especially a shooter, a genre that has never been strong on the Playstation brand.

I can’t say I’m terribly surprised by this new rumor, based on Takeo Takasu’s claim that insanely high sales were needed to make up the costs of PS3 game development. However, I do disagree with the claim that it’s a shame Konami might not finish the game’s development: I’d rather have no game at all instead of shelling out $60 for one that is a piece of junk.

Hopefully Konami will make an official announcement in a couple of days and let us know whether or not the game is still in development.
