Coolest Wiimote Hack Ever!

robotarm.jpg

Have you been brainstorming about hacking your Wiimote in a way which will stun the world and leave us in awe of your genius? Well, I hate to break it to you, but the bar has just been significantly raised by a couple of guys over at US Mechatronics. The result of their labor: The Wiibot.

A pair of employees at the company decided to take the (relatively) harmless remote into dangerous new territory, putting in some extra time at the "office" to turn the humble Wiimote into a real-time interface for an over-sized robotic arm. After engaging in a quick game of tennis, the pair decided to up the arm's destructive power considerably and outfit it with a sword...

There's a video after the jump, as well as detailed instructions on how they constructed this robotic behemoth. It quickly went over my head when things got technical, so I think I'll just content myself to sit here and stare in wonder.
