Jack Thompson Fights Against GTA IV
Jack Thompson revs his hate-filled bandwagon to target the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, qu’elle surprise. He sent out a mass email to many different news organizations titled “Bill Gates in the Crosshairs,” to fight against the release of GTA on the Xbox 360, which will be published by Take-Two, a subsidiary of Rockstar Games.
In Thompson’s email, he cites a report from the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) which states that progress has been made in keeping mature-rated games out of minors’ hands, but further steps need to be taken. He is ready to take any steps necessary to make sure that minors do not get their hands on the game, by requesting an audience with the man himself, “Please have your lawyers (Microsoft chairman Bill Gates’, that is) contact me in order that such sales will be prevented.”
(Wow, I wonder what it’s like to talk to Bill Gates? I imagine it’s how Moses felt when he chatted with the burning bush.)
Thompson’s point is that if Microsoft doesn’t place tons of restrictions on the sale of this game, then millions of copies will end up in the hands of children, and will corrupt their fragile little minds.
Thompson has failed on many attempts to ban the releases of games such as Bully. He was also backed several anti-game laws which were shot down because they violated the First Amendment. You know, it’s really great to see Thompson stick his foot in his mouth again and again. I hope at some point he will quit his ridiculous shenanigans and stop trying to strip away our constitutional rights. At this point, it is obvious that this lawyer is acting out of passion and now level-headed logic. Isn’t the law supposed to be impartial?

I’m of the Kotaku-based notion that further attention to the scum that dare not speak it’s name only enpowers it’s ignorant, homophobic views.
The next time I want to hear about him is when he publiclly states how he’s seen the error of his ways and says “Sorry, I was wrong”...or his complete disbarring from the US legal system, whichever comes first.
Jack Thompson OUGHT to be fighting against whatever possessed him to put that gawd-awful SOS pad on his head.
Jack Thompson is good publicity for Rockstar. People like controversial games, and they like supporting a company that someone like him hates so much.
