Left 4 Dead: A First Look

Gamespot got a chance to sit down with Turtle Rock Studios to talk a bit about their upcoming twist on the survival horror genre, Left 4 Dead. What makes this title different from most survival horror titles? It’s co-operative!
Using the Half Life 2 engine, Turtle Rock has created an experience where players must band together if they hope to ever make their way through a zombie infested world. Another great twist is that a player can choose to be a survivor OR a zombie. Playing a zombie, known as “the infected” in the game, won’t be an easy ride, there will be no traditional weapons for them. Guns and ammo are replaced by blood vomiting and a 50 ft tongue.
Playing as an infected tends to be more of a “hide and seek” kind of thing. You want to position yourself to attack at the worst possible time for the survivors, lurking and stalking for a bit until you make your move. That is, unless you are the tank. Then you charge right in and cause massive chaos and mayhem—tossing cars into the air, smashing through concrete walls, that sort of thing.
A PC version should be hitting the shelves sometime in the first half of 2007 and an Xbox 360 version coming later in the year.
I’m really looking forward to checking this game out. I can’t wait to be an infected, vomiting blood all over hapless passersby and watching them become overwhelmed by my zombie brothers. Kind of like my last trip to the local mall, but that’s another story…

This game looks sick, I’m psyched.
And you’ll always be vomiting blood on passersby to me, darling… give us a phlegmy, gory kiss…

I really wish GameVideos.com would use something that actually works for straming, like Quicktime.
Game sounds completely awesome, though, count me in for the PC version.
