New Marvel Trading Card Game Screens Up

marvel.jpg

Making games out of trading card franchises is never terribly easy; just look at how many rotten titles were based on Magic: The Gathering. Konami's upcoming Marvel Trading Card Game is hoping to cash in on the large audience which drives the trading card game, VS created by Marvel and Upper Deck. In a cool move, the game's only being marketed for PC, PSP, and DS, which I guess means that players will have the option to play their friends in real world locales like they would if they were physically using cards. I'm still not sure how people will buy new cards for their handheld systems, but I'm sure it's something Konami has worked out.

Marvel posted some new screens of the title to their official website, and I can't really say I'm all that impressed by how things look. The comic sequences look a bit cheesy, and the battle shots looks a little too busy and confusing for my taste. Still, who knows, the gameplay could be great. We'll just have to wait until February 7 to find out whether or not the game's going to be any good.
