No Ghostly Data for Mario Kart 64

No Ghost Data Allowed!

Well, the original version of Mario Kart 64 may have had some problems with speed but one problem that issue of the game did not have was not being able to save your ghost data to Controller Paks. Unfortunately, that does become an issue in the Virtual Console release of the game. One could save your best lap times as ghost data and come back to race yourself...no more. When website, Pro-G, asked Nintendo about a fix, they received this response:

"Due to unavoidable technical reasons unfortunately it is not possible to save ghost data from Mario Kart 64's Time Trials in the Virtual Console version of the game."

However, one thing Nintendo did do was place "messages advising users about this before they download the game both when the Wii Shop Channel is first accessed and in the More Details tab on the individual game page." At least they did something to make people aware of the error. Let us hope it's just laziness and that when an even bigger title comes along, it is something that can be fixed, after all.

No fix coming for Mario Kart on Wii Virtual Console [Pro-G]
