Nyko's Wireless Wii Sensor Bar

So the Wii sensor bar, we’ve known for a while, is essentially just a tool that projects two beams of infrared light that the Wiimote uses for its hidden-mojo-that-I-don’t-really-need-to-understand. Which makes the wired aspect of the Wii sensor bar really just a power thing, right? We’ve seen the Wii powered by candlelight and DIY wireless sensor bars, so it was only a matter of time until someone tidied it up and sold us one without wires. Bully, I say.
Nyko brings us the Nyko Wireless Wii Sensor Bar, which is not the first of its kind, true, but is the best-looking and apparently best-performing, and it comes from a well-known gaming accessories manufacturer. The Nyko bar runs on four AAA batteries that give it 30 hours of battery life, as well as a very-important auto-off feature. Better still, Nyko’s bar works from up to 25 feet away, which is twice the range of the Wii’s native sensor bar.
(If your TV is big enough to stand 25 feet away and still enjoy Zelda, dude…you’re gonna get a brain tumor.)
Actually, doubling the range does more than give the Brobdingnagian set a comfortable Wii setup – it should also improve signal strength for those with only moderately enormous televisions. Let’s have a Wii party! Bring your binoculars!
Pricing & release dates are still unknown…like that brain tumor…
