Playstation 3 Euro TV Spot

I love a good commercial. Nothing makes me pull out my wallet faster than a clever ad campaign that successfully makes me feel that I will never be able live without it.

I kind of like the US ads, showcasing the SIXAXIS’s magicability, crows flying willy nilly. And then there’s the European ads.

I’m not really sure what this commercial does, other than make me slightly confused. There’s a whole lotta cup action, for one. When the narrator speaks of a “she” it shows us a whole room of folks playing with cups, and I don’t really think it’s a good analogy, or a visually exciting one. If you’re gonna talk to us about the power of the “cell processor”, at least tell us what’s really going on with it, instead of saying something like, “it’s where the old rules don’t apply.” What does that even mean? Has cup gaming been revolutionized?

Apparently, this is living.

Wow. That made no sense. I want to do that with athletic cups!

Yeah, aren’t those cup routines planned in advance? So it’s really only an analogy for prerendered movies.

Hmm, is Sony claiming to have invented the lag-free processor? I don’t think I could even name a console game that has ever had CPU or graphics lag.

“And where can you find this cell processor? Playstation 3”
And where can you find a PS3? Sorry, we don’t have any – can’t get the diodes, you know

Im reminded of the PS3 commercial that was depcting the ps3 as this promised 3rd comming of a messiah that we’ve all been waiting for without actually showing it.

Well, at least it actually talks about games and exactly what about the system they’re advertising, unlike those freaky egg ads.
... but I’m not really impressed. Maybe if they showed more sheer speed of those cup people.

And that game is cool, though. I was enraptured when I saw it on display at a store. I love to gaze in awe when things crash in slow motion. It’s awesome… but still not $600 awesome. Try again.

those cup people are from another commercial O.o I’ve seen it before, because Stack Mat is a real product. It’s designed for kids to have fun stacking cups or something…? Are you sure this a real commercial, and not edited? I can’t imagine why sony would take part of another commercial.
