Pretty Boys Make Graves
I’m not much of a fan of sequels to Final Fantasy games. They always seem so perfect as self contained entities, adding more to the story always seems forced, unnecessary and often, disappointing.
But the Final Fantasy VII mythos is a pretty rich one, and adding on to the story is not only easy due to the large cast of characters, it’s been called into action by the cries of fanboys for years.
RPGamer has recently posted some new pictures (courtesy of JeuxFrance)
for the PSP prequel, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, and damn they look good. The game is beautiful; it’s clear that the team learned a lot from Kingdom Hearts 2, characters are crisp and fluid. Battle looks intriguing, fun, and gorgeous… a must with any RPG.
Let’s hope this turns out as well as we hope, because one thing it’s definitely got going for it—all the boys are very pretty.

im a relatively large FF7 fan and im kinda excited for this game. except the only problem is that DoC sucked, but i liked Advent children so wtvr. hopefully this will be good. and not to mention cloud is the hottest video game guy ever
“Pretty”? It looks like a snapshot from an early 80’s rock star convention. Look, there’s Robert Smith of the Cure talking to that guy from The Alarm.
Square-Enix knows how to make a pretty game, there’s no denying that. however, I am really, REALLY sick of Final Fantasy VII. shallow characters coupled with a story lacking in coherence and plot resolution, do not a good game make. then, we follow that with a movie AND video game that is all style and no substance. what’s worse is that SE knows it can get away with this because the rabid fanbase will eat it all up. (though I think that they might have caught on to DoC’s shortcomings a little faster than AC’s.)
the best FF since 6 was 9, and the best since 9 was 12. (though it is tough to count 11 in with them due to its drastic gmaeplay departure owing to it being an MMO.) at this rate, I’m thinking maybe I should just sit SE out til FF15 comes out.

i agree with fillerbunny9. reincarnations of final fantasy 7 have been going on for way too long…
