Rumor: PS3.5 On Horizon, Could Cost $2500

Now that the Christmas rush is over, I’m sure that Sony will take the time to actually ramp up their PS3 production and fix all those little glitches that have been irritating the hell out of gamers (such as not playing in 1080i and having an online community service that is largely broken)... wait, what’s that? They’re thinking of developing a $2500 PS3 instead? Seriously? Is it plated in solid gold? And encrusted with diamonds? No? Well, then, what’s so amazing about it?
This rumored new model of PS3 in the works is a more “media-centric” build. It’s going to look more like a video player and have upgraded playback features, including two HDMI connectors to keep your audio and visual separate. It’s not the SCEI brand—it’s a Sony. It’s not the PS3—it’s the PS3.5 and it hasn’t been verified, but it’s slated to set you back $2500. Oh and yeah, it can also play those PS3 games. What do you guys think of this? Bad idea, or the worst idea?
At the moment, I think shifting attention away from addressing supply and design issues is not the best move Sony could make… but, then again, that’s why I’m just a lowly computer monkey and people like Kutaragi make the millions they do.
Behold: the Playstation 3.5 [PS3 Fanboy]

I’ve heard this rumor before. It wouldn’t surprise me if Sony came up with a super deluxe “im in ur living room… pwning ur tube” PS3 like the PSX before it, but it’ll only be in Japan and it’ll be more like a grand, not $2500.
And, yes, it will flop again.
It was already a bad idea the PS3 at $600, it’s the worst idea to do another version of the same console for $2500.
Who the hell would pay $2500 for that? The system isn’t even selling at $600.
One Question – for my $2500 will Gundam look better? Will any of the games run better? Thought not – time for the king to step down and let someone else rule the video game land.
sounds like the Matsushita Q to me.
horrible idea.
how the heck does anyone know that the ps3.5 is coming out?! I would like some links, for goodness sake
