Saturday Morning Cartoons: Street Fighter II

No fuzzy overweight plumbers or rapping monkeys this weekend, oh no no! This Saturday we’ve got a real treat—what being a gay gamer is all about I dare say: young, hairless, hard-bodied guys beating the crap out of each other. Yes, friends and neighbors, it’s Street Fighter II. Oh, and not the classy high-end animated movie or even the Hollywood masterpiece— starring the late-great Raul Julia and master thespian Jean-Claude Van Damme—we’re talking the 1995 series, straight from Japanese T.V. (with a brief stop in U.S. syndication for dubbing).
And what would Street Fighter be without every gay gamer’s favorite vivacious vainglorious villian: Vega. That bod, that tattoo, mmm… he can use that claw on me anyda—er… where was I? Oh, yeah.
So put on your wraslin’ trunks, grab your partner, and don’t forget your cup, all the out of the ring boy-on-boy action you can handle is right after the jump! But remember, Vega’s mine, he and I have a… ur… “grudge” to settle.

RAWWRRR DUBBING MAKE BEXLOR MAD! (body slams the empire state building)
however that was very kind of you to post all those for us.
I always hated fighting Balrog…him and that stupid wall-jump/claw dive attack that you had to time your counter-attack just right to avoid.
He is a sexy bitch, though.
“In fact, this is the furst taam I dun left Japan since ma ma put me into thishere world, ain’t it”
I’m sorry, but I still can’t believe why some dubbing studios can’t be bothered to at least find someone without a drawl to dub the kinds of Ryu and Chun-Li.
Greatly enjoyed this series way back though.
And, because a certain colleague just came in bugging me once again to find him a name for his new company and calling me an egoist and fool in the process because all of my opinions were supposedly very subjective – and this is in no way related to this post…
What I really wanted to point out is how the guy who says “street fighter” in the intro sounds very much like the announcer from Killer Instinct. Sweet!
I declare today is the official Street Fighter Sexploitation Day!
“I’m sorry, but I still can’t believe why some dubbing studios can’t be bothered to at least find someone without a drawl to dub the kinds of Ryu and Chun-Li.”
This is also further evidence of why I never, ever watch dubs. Ever.
Despite the quality of the voice acting, I think Shin Gallon makes an important point that deserves to be restated: Vega is a sexy bitch.
did anyone else notice the “pub rainbow” at 8:21 on episode 1 part 2? “I’ll show you my san francisco!”
Apparently Ken’s san Francisco is riddled with gay bars…
Also, what’s with the water they are always drinking?
Avian? Evian and Avon love-child?
Product placement for the win!
Heheh … seen this series from beginning to end. Its a little tedious at places, but also exceedingly queer. I believe at one point Chun Li jokingly remarks of Ryu and Ken ‘Oh, I thought you two were a couple?’.
Great stuff!
if they were actual people and actually came to america, everyone would think that they are gay lovers according to the pictures in the credits. i mean, they’re a really cute couple! lol, but Ryu is soooo much hotter than Ken! really, he is!
pic: YUM.
XD It’s Street Fighter II V! You’re the best! I love this series. Ever since I saw the second ending sequence with the song “Lonely Baby,” I was hooked!
