The Ugly Truth Behind The Miss Video Game Beauty Pageant

Our own Faith has published a rather interesting article on her website, The Girl Gamer, Regarding her entry into the Miss Video Games pageant. Since she started becoming involved in the contest she started noticing more and more inconsistencies appearing within the rules and what looks to be rather dubious goings on behind the scenes. For instance, when the pageant first started, the age requirement was 18 which has subsequently been changed to 16.
Another mystery is the line in the application that states the contestant doesn't even need to play video games to enter. What?! Wouldn't you think that would be the first rule? Otherwise it's nothing more than an opportunity for some pervs to ogle pictures of young girls. Even more questions are raised in the area regarding sponsors and advertisers. First they claim to not need any advertisers, that they are backed by a mysterious unnamed company, yet they are still seeking advertising.
It's this a bundle of inconsistencies that has caused Faith to pull her entry from the contest and write this article, exposing what could potentially be a scam or worse. Check out her investigations on the subject and let us (and her) know what you think about it. Sounds pretty shady to me...
No matter Faith, you will always be our Miss Video Game!
The Truth about the Miss Video Game Pageant [The Girl Gamer]

Seems like a scam especially after the "doesn't have to play video games clause." The real trip seems to be most gamers giving *Faith* a whole lot of grief over this especially at Kotaku and Destructoid. What's up with THAT?
I have yet to fully read the article, but that sounds really sketchy and very VERY poorly run. Pulling out was probably the best avenue to travel.
As a Girl Gamer myself, I find it offensive (Or at the least, real crappy) that they could copypasta some big boobed bimbo who has no experience or history with Video Games as the representative of Girl Gamers everywhere. I want a real gamer.
Thanks for supporting me and writing about my piece.
Where is Kotaku talking about it?
A long while ago I had many friends pushing me to enter the contest. I couldn't do it, I read the site and began to read the profiles of all the other women, and I knew it had to be complete BS. =/
