Update: Wii Death Might Be Criminal
In case you haven't seen it elsewhere already, police are investigating whether to file criminal charges in the death of mother of three, Jennifer Strange. Her family has also filed suit against the radio station that sponsored the "Hold your wee for a Wii" contest which resulted in her death by water intoxication. Judging from the flippant attitude of the DJs laughing about it and talking about how they knew it was dangerous, I won't be surprised when the Strange family wins their case.

The only thing criminal is that a mother of 3 would do something so stupid. I don't believe anyone should be held for this except the person who makes their own decisions. This is another example of Americans wanting someone else to be responsible for every thing they do...just in case they do something really really dumb. Sad story...but not a criminal case...a case of stupidity.
Sadly, this case is exactly WHY the system has been placed to hold the appropriate people accountable. This case SCREAMS negligence. It was like playing russian roulette and the DJs thought it was "OK" because they had people sign a waiver. If they informed people they could and most likely would DIE from this contest, I doubt the contestants would have played a game. They thought it was harmless and the DJs laughed as Medical Professionals called in telling them people could die.
This mother DIED because of the radio station's irresponsibility, NOT her stupidity. This isn't some woman spillin hot coffee on her cooch and suing McD's sayin "I didn't know it was hot!" This family will OWN the radio station once this is all said and done, and I believe they should get it. To sacrifice people's safety in the name of ratings: Thats what's sick and stupid.
