Villains Strum Their Guitars and Beat Their Drums

Gamespot is reporting that RedOctane has submitted applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for Guitar Villain and Drum Villain. Here's what Gamespot had to report on the contents of the applications:
The applications specifically state that they are intended to cover computer game software in a variety of forms, including downloadable games, games sold together with controllers, arcade games, and games sold with electronic toy guitars. The filings also mention entertainment services, such as online leaderboards that keep track of players' high scores.
Online leaderboards, eh? Sound a little next gen to me! ...but I have to wonder, what, exactly, would make these potential guitar and drum games so villainous to begin with? I would assume it'd be a change in the style of music, but isn't it all just 'Devil's music' anyways?
Who knows what'll come of these registered titles, and that's all they are at this point...registered. There is no guarantee that they'll even come out or be worked on. Gamespot reminds us that RedOctane had registered the titles of Keyboard Hero, Drum Hero, and Band Hero before being acquired by Activision. Obviously, nothing has come of that.
When contacted about the recent filings, an Activision representative responded with the following:
RedOctane is fully dedicated to, and currently focused on the production of Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360. There have not been any announcements, or further information, on any titles and projects outside of this.
So there ya' have it would be hippies and rockstars, just wait and see. We'll bring you more once we hear about it.
Activision calls dibs on Guitar Villain, Drum Villain [Gamespot]

Just a thought.
I assume they're getting the patents for "villain" variations of the names so that nobody can come out with a game titled as such. If they did, it would obviously be an attempt to cash in on the popularity that is Guitar Hero. I don't think at this point that Red Octane would be attempting to milk the franchise so much so quickly [we already got a 360 game and new PS2 game comin' for Christ's sake!].
But, if they DO come out and make Guitar Villain someday... I'll buy it. What would be the difference though? More hard rock? Death metal? Pointy guitar?
