Engadget Builds A Wii Laptop!

wiilaptop.jpg

The irrepressible techno-wiz that is Benjamin J Heckendorn and his Engadget pals have wrapped up weeks of work on this unspeakably cool Wii laptop portable thingy. If I understand correctly, this baby is a portable Wii with a special short-range built-in sensor bar and a pleasing wide-screen LCD.

It's an absolute work of art, a thing of beauty...the only downside is you have to make it yourself. Luckily, a DIY guide will be forthcoming, should any of you enterprising Wiisters decide to take this upon yourselves. The specs aren't anything to sniff at:

· 16:9 widescreen LCD, 7-inch diagonal
· Stereo sound
· Gamecube controller port
· Built-in short range Sensor Bar
· Ports for using original Sensor Bar and A/V output jacks (for use on external display)
· Built-in power supply and compartment for power cord
· Dimensions: 8.5 x 7.7 x 2-inches

Sweet! Sounds like a good time to me... Hit the jump to see more pics, or visit BenHeck for the whole she-bang.

Ack! So cool! If only they could have component out and built-in Wavebird receivers (while somehow maintaining open ports for regular GameCube controllers). This is definitely the ultimate portable Wii!

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
