Wii Strap 3.0

new-strap.jpg

Yes, you see correctly. Looks like Nintendo is releasing yet another strap for those slippery wii-motes. Both Play Nintendo and Go Nintendo have reported a third safety strap that is thicker and longer. Clearly, Nintendo knows how to please the GayGamer audience. In addition, the little clinching dohickey that tightens the strap to the wrist has been changed to slide around less.

Sure, it might be safer, but doesn't it look a little cheap to you? Instead of that imperfect square Wii shape at the end, we have a rounded plastic nub.

Could Nintendo be spending less on making the strap safer? That would make perfect business sense, but it is a little disappointing. I received an email from Nintendo a few days ago, asking me to check my serial number and send in for a new strap, but I might just keep my old strap. I haven't had any problems with it, and besides, it's prettier.

And that's what matters, right?

Sign me up.

I've stopped using the damned strap all together. That's right, I wii bareback now. T'was bloody irritating me on those long Zelda sessions.

Haven't had a near miss yet, even mid matchpoint deuce. Can't for the life of me imagine how a grown up could possibly lose their grip on it.

Well at least you have a Wii to be bitching about while I don't =(

although i understand the appeal of wii barebacking (and have often toyed with the idea myself during late night sessions with link), i can not, in all moral judgment, condone such activity. :)

I question the need of these, but then I also question the second straps. I still use the first (Wario Ware Smooth Moves has a game where you release the Wii-mote for the strap to catch.) I have found myself "barebacking it" while playing Zelda lately. never even come close to a near release of the controller.

just like the safety warnings we need to suffer through 3 seconds of every time we load our Wiis, DS-es, and newer GBA games, Nintendo is taking care of those who cannot take care of themselves. hurray for frivolous lawsuits! -_-

barebacking jokes aside, the very photo of those straps strikes me as phallic. and all in a row, too!

Should we really promote barebacking on this site?
