Castlevania Movie Details Trickle In

Of all the game-to-film franchises I'm the least pessimistic about...no, that's not fair. How about this: of all the game-to-film franchises I hope to be disappointed by the least, the Castlevania: Dracula Begins is high up there. Ever since the first rumblings of the project I've had my fingers crossed that writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson would make this one memorable, in a good way. Or at least forgettably not awful.
When I saw the poster, I felt a pang of hope...at least the mood looked right.
Now the man himself spills a few more beans about what we can expect from this hopefully-not-cookie-cutter horror/game film:
“It’s going to explain how the Belmont clan and Dracula first come into contact, so in a way, it’s going to be a genesis story of the clash between the Belmonts and Dracula. It’s going to span the ages as well, which is one of the fun things about the games. There are Castlevania games in the 1500s, there are Castlevania games in the Second World War, there are Castlevania in the future, and we’re going to take the same kind of approach. It’s going to be a very mythic story spanning hundreds of years, but the key characters are going to be Dracula and Simon Belmont. And the whip is going to be intact, although there’ll be lots of other weaponry as well.”
Time traveling undead and the families that die stopping them. Sign me the hell up already.

You do know that as far as Really Bad Directors, Anderson is second only to Uwe Boll, right?
I mean, have you seen Alien vs. Predator?
I'm just saying; don't hold your breath.
I wish Konami were as protective of this franchise as they were of the Silent Hill series. I don't hold out much hope with Anderson as a director.
Yeah, not looking too hot. I enjoy Resident Evil (mostly due to Jovovich), but AVP was soulless, awful, and boring. And the words: "There are Castlevania games in the 1500s... in the Second World War, there are Castlevania in the future... It’s going to be a very mythic story spanning hundreds of years..." These words do not inspire much hope (sounding a little Queen of the Damned humps Highlander or something). Although I suppose it would be good sense to wait until the movie is actually done before deciding it's crap.
aw, fuck. Anderson.
I enjoyed the first RE movie, but AVP and the second RE movie were just horrible.
There is 0% hope for this movie. Anderson has only made one film that wasn't completely horrible on all levels: Event Horizon. And even it wasn't really very good. Everything this guy touches turns to Sh*t.
you know, if you take away the "by the director of...." part, the poster could actually speak a lot better for the movie...
sort of liked resident evil 1 (laughed the entire movie) loved event horizon... and there it stops... well at best it will be a good laugh
