Chaucer And WoW Prove To Be A Winning Combination

World of Warcraft's capabilities for user-created movies sometimes seems truly limitless. This time around, it's been used for a high school student's English class project, used to illustrate "The Pardoner's Tale" from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales:

That's right ladies and gentlemen, I used a video game for a formal English project, and the best thing of all? I got the highest grade in my class with a 210/200, and the teacher (and everyone else) loved it!

In case you're not familiar with the story, it goes something like this: three gentlemen set out to find and kill Death because they blame him for the death of a friend. They meet an old man who directs them to visit a tree, beneath which they find a fabulous treasure of gold. Forgetting about their vendetta against the Grim Reaper, one of them goes off to fetch wine and food while the other two wait under the tree. These two plot to kill their friend when he returns so they can split his share of the gold between themselves. Meanwhile, the guy who leaves for the town poisons some of the wine with rat poison. When he returns with the food and drink, his friends kill him and drink the poisoned wine - also dying in result.

Personally, I think this is absolutely brilliant: video games help students get good grades!

This is very cool, but it'd be even better if they hadn't used a Modern English translation :)

Well, my Middle English skills are a little rusty...I haven't spoken it in many centuries. I prefer the modern vernacular.
