Clover Studios' New Baby
From father to son, knowledge and experience pass from one generation to another. The passing of Clover Studios was a sad time in gaming, after the great successes of Okami and Godhand. Many have enjoyed the off-kilter brand of humor imbued in their titles, and their heavy-handed art direction was unparalleled. From the dust and ashes of the remnants of Clover springs a new developer, SEEDS.
The same powerhouse behind Clover, Atsushi Inaba, will spearhead the Osaka based studio, SEEDS. The company was founded in August 2006, a few months before Clover came to a close. SEEDS is gearing up to push out some serious games with team members such as Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, and Hideki Kamya who created Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe. They have about 51 employees to date, but are looking for more recruits.
The website for the studio has gone live, but it is in Japanese of course. The company is still taking shape and has the potential to be a serious contender in the gaming industry, considering the pedigree of designers under their belt. Keep your eye on the SEEDS as they blossom under the guidance of the pros of gaming.
