DDR Taking Over Schools

strawberryshortcake2221.jpg

Now, we know that America has a rather hefty obesity problem, and that scads of folk have lost weight playing Dance Dance Revolution or other active gaming exercise routines, but now the spazzy dance/movement genre is being introduced into school systems as a weight-reduction tool for our young'uns.

In West Virginia, which has the worst childhood obesity problem in these continental United States, the public school system is moving forward on their plan to use DDR to battle their babies' bulges.

The state, which plans to put the popular dancing video game in every one of its public schools, said on Wednesday research suggested that it helped put a halt to weight gain.

Preliminary results from a 24-week study of 50 overweight or obese children, aged 7 to 12, showed that those who played the game at home for at least 30 minutes five days per week maintained their weight and saw a reduction in some risk factors for heart disease and diabetes.

With some of the hipness injected into DDR: Universe, these kids might have an actual shot at being prom queen and/or the hottest jock on campus. Of course, if they play on a Strawberry Shortcake DDR Pad, that might defeat the whole purpose... Come on kids, you can do eet!
