Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings Japanese Website
Revenant Wings will serve as a sequel of sorts to Final Fantasy XII, set in the same Ivalice universe. The game will borrow parts of the Active Dimension Battle system used in FFXII, by targeting enemies, issuing commands, and changing gambits with the stylus. This system was used to simplify overly complicated elements from the battle system. It is a system that worked well in Final Fantasy XII and should translate well to stylus play. The graphics are a sprite-based throwback to the other Ivalice title, Final Fantasy Tactics, utilizing a similar art style.
Most of the familiar characters from Final Fantasy XII are making a comeback in Revenant Wings. Vaan returns, now 18 and a full-fledged air pirate with his own airship, and Penelo his 17 year-old navigator. Their journey takes them to the Floating Continent or Purvama of Lemures and begins on the ground below. Along the way they come across Balthier and Fran who are also playable.
The game looks beautiful and a worthy hand-held successor to the behemoth that is Final Fantasy XII. I’m glad that they are exploring this amazing universe with so many games. It’s nice to see Square coming back to familiar territory. They can get out of control, especially with Final Fantasy VII. At least Ivalice is filled with political intrigue, romance and air pirates, what more do you need from an RPG?

As long as I can have Balthier in my party, I'll be a happy camper. I could care less about Vaan and Penelo...and most of the other characters...except Fran.
Balthier is a babe, Fran's a hottie, and Vaan is just plain cute. They were my main party, no questions asked.
