Game Tunes: Zelda Reorchestrated
Judging by the amount of Zelda-related musical endeavors out there, this is bound to be a hit. Link's various soundtracks have been treated to renditions ranging from the respectful to the bizarre to the beyond bizarre.
Now, at last, we have the merely awesome: Zelda Reorchestrated brings high-quality orchestral Zelda soundtracks from no fewer than nine Zelda games, as well as a series of Zelda-inspired soundscapes. Think Enya meets the Hyrule Philharmonic. Ben Kuchera brought this incredible project to our attention, and it sounds as sweet as it reads:
The ZREO team uses high-end sequencer synthesizers to transcribe the sounds of legend. From there, the MIDI's created by our musical team are sent through sound libraries, where the computerized sounds are transformed into very realistic and believable orchestrated masterpieces that are must-haves for any Zelda fan!
In addition to a great site (featuring something called World Zelda Music Radio, which I haven't tried yet), the ZREO folks have made their work downloadable in a zillion different ways: song-by-song, through numerous mirror sites, and several torrents if you'd like a change from downloading illicit porn.
Well, not a full-fledged change, but a brief respite.

YES! Free remixed video game music! One of life's simple pleasures. And the whole collection is over 200MB, too!
Another great 'remix' album is Bound Together, which got a bunch of DJs and remix artists to give a new spin tracks from EarthBound. (www.earthbound.joecam.net)
