Genji Creator Has Crabs, Suffers Massive Damage!
Ok, no he doesn't. But he does have cause to hate everyone's favorite crustacean and namesake of the infamous "social" parasite: a food allergy.
If you've had the most undistinguished privilege of playing Genji: Days Of The Blade, or watched any of the hilarity that's been passed around the intertubes concerning the words "based on actual history," "giant crabs," and "massive damage," you might be familiar with the evil purple-glowy skull-faced enormous arthropod that you battle, flip to expose its weakness, and then obliterate with, well...massive amounts of...damage.
More specifically, you might be familiar with the shitstorm of "massive damage" jokes that made the rounds and cropped up on even the worst sites ever.
GamesRadar dug up the secret behind this unusual encounter and found a confession from game creator Yoshiki Okamoto, via translator, to PSM3:
"Obviously no one among us believes there were giant crabs in feudal Japan...But Okamoto is allergic to crabs and that's the reason why, if you find its weak point, you can kill it with one blow. It's Okamoto's way of defeating the crab he hates."
There you go, gang. These are the winds that create pop culture moments: one dude's allergy to tasty, tasty crab meat. Now that I know, I feel so empty inside...

I don't get why certain things become instantly 'pop'. What so funny about "Massive Damage"? Maybe I'm too square, but all the things on ytmnd aren't really that funny. (the same for its predecessors the old "ate my balls" pages)

I still don't get that "also, cocks" thing, and frankly it was a little hard for me to accept that there wasn't something more that made "massive damage" so popular, or whatever word describes these things...
I'm okay with being out of the loop like that, however; it's a sign of character! ;)
