New Wii Channel Launches: Everybody Votes

everybodyvotes.jpg

Last night, Nintendo launched a surprise on the Wii owning public, the Everybody Votes Channel. Upon signing on to the new channel, the player is presented with a series of questions to answer and vote on. Each question stays on the channel for a certain number of days and then the votes are tallied and the results are published. You can use the Mii of your choice to log your votes and up to six people can vote on one Wii. The questions are a bit ridiculous like "What Century would you want to live in. 19th or 22nd?" and "What is a more romantic Valentine's gift? Roses or Chocolate?" and there are separate categories for national and worldwide votes. No votes have been tallied yet so we will have to wait a bit to see exactly how they will display the results, but I'm sure it will be something clever involving the Miis.

It seems a rather silly little addition, but it's free and I'm sure it will get used by quite a few people, at least at the beginning. It would be great if they used it to do things like letting voters choose the next VC title or whether not Tingle will appear in the next Zelda game, but that remains to be seen. For now it's basically the equivalent of an online Cosmo Quiz with Miis. Cute, but ultimately not something most people will use on a daily basis.

To access the Everybody Votes Channel, you must first do a system update, then go the the Wii Shop Channel. Once there, choose "Wii Ware" and it will then give you the option to download Everybody Votes.

Make the jump to check out a video of Everybody Votes in action!

"Should Tingle's Rose-Colored Rupee Land be released in the U.S.?" That's my question. Not sure if I really want to know the results, though.

Well, when I was stoned last night and had just devoured half a pizza, this was really exciting. I got lost in thought trying to figure out why they picked lime green and bubblegum pink, though. I guessed they don't really have any political meanings, but, again, I was stoned.
