Only 5 Days Until Wii Play!

Wii Play is coming. Very soon. Although it's scheduled to come out on the 12th, I have absolutely no experience with any games coming to stores on a monday, so I'm assuming it will be on shelves the following day. I'll still be calling my local retailer to double check, though. Can't be having any 13 year old girls getting the one-up on the ol' Pirate Prince.

Knowing the speed with which Wii paraphernalia sells, and since Wii Play comes with a Wii remote in the box, this game is going to sell out right quick. If you don't already have one on reserve, you may be out of luck. I suggest getting in line at 2am. Bring a taser gun to fight off any late night/early morning riffraff, a couple powerbars, and a blankie; you should be fine.

Until then, and perhaps because you won't be able to get your hands on a copy, enjoy this video of all the fun that Wii Play offers! Get your competitive juices flowing, because we're looking at endless multiplayer fun, in only the way the Wii can deliver it. There's cow racing, ping pong, all sorts of Mii based games, and a duck hunt style shooter just to name a few. Anyone who has Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, will know how much fun shooting tin cans can be. It's not just for white trash anymore.

I'm still surprised that this is only now being released in the US when it was a launch game in all other regions. It IS a great game however and I've spent ridiculous amounts of time playing 2-player tank battle with my brother. In terms of the games on the disc, here's my rating;

Shooting 7
It's okay and reasonably nostalgic.
Table Tennis 7.5
This is surpisingly addictive in 2-player mode, though 1-player quickly gets old.
Laser Hockey 9.5
Seemingly shallow at first, this is one of my favourite games on the disc.
Find Mii 5
Maybe I just don't understand this, but some parts of the Find Mii just seem inexplicable. Would be a lot better were it not for the 'Find the odd one out' parts.
Pose Mii 6
Just gets boring.
Billiards 8
This is actually really quite accurate. You can chip the ball, put spin on the ball as you would expect and the mood of the game is really excellent.
Charge! 7
A good game, but gets boring after the first few runs
Tanks! 8.5
Easily my favourite game on the disc. A lot of fun 2-player and just cute and funny.
Fishing 6.5
Maybe I just haven't given this game enough of a chance, but I didn't like it too much. It seems to emulate board games like Mini Fishing and ultimately I think you'll have more fun fishing in Zelda.

Don't get excited about this - it's really not great. I've had it for about two months and loaded it up maybe three times.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
