Phil Harrison: Wannabe Spin Doctor

Well, it seems to be yet another fun-filled day of Sony executives giving interviews in regards to the PS3 and how it's launch wasn't a spectacular debacle in every sense of the word. But wait, this isn't entirely going in the direction we were expecting: the man actually admits that Sony might not have done the best job in regards to some of their recent products:

"We can always do a better job," conceded Harrison. "We can always provide better tools, we can always provide better documentation, we can always provide better service."

Harrison was also defensive of the launch of the PlayStation 3 when Croal brought up comments from Valve's Gabe Newell, who had previously declared the PS3 launch a "total disaster".

"By what measure is the launch of PS3 unsuccessful?" he asked. "We had people lined up in stores in three continents."

"We have supplied the market with more products in Japan, Asia and the US than we did the PlayStation and PlayStation 2, and more software than PlayStation and PlayStation 2."

The interview goes on to say that the European PS3s are shipping out and that the PSP is not only far from dead, but that it'll stun gamers with what's to come for the handhold console. Still, at least Phil's admitted that things aren't exactly perfect... unlike a certain Jack Tretton. Still, I would have liked to see Harrison actually address some of the other recent criticisms regarding Sony's behavior; such as the shutdown of Lik Sang, numerous idiotic comments like how the Wii is an impulse purchase, and that European buyers wouldn't mind the console delay.

Admittedly, this may be the best we can hope for in an interview from Sony regarding their own products... at least for now.

Japan is such a nice continent, isn't it? And he might be right, I think most European buyers don't mind the delay - Don't know anyone who's really looking forward to the PS3 being released over here, that is not really something Sony should be proud of...

Less talk, Phil. More do.

After the Lik Sang debacle, then Sony letting us know exactly where their priorities lie (certainly not in the UK!) as far as I'm concerned Sony can suck my balls!

A humble approach I think might be a good start, but it's going to take more than 'we can do better' before I look at the brand with anything other than disgust.

To be honest the way I feel about them right now even their tiny little Vaios aren't doing it for me.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
