Pokemon Diamond And Pearl Preorders At Gamestop

pokemond.jpg

Late last night, a carrier pigeon braved the hostile cold of the winters eve to deliver onto me news from one of our loyal subjects, NinRac. Gather around Pokemen and Pokewomen, for I have news for you. The moment you have been waiting for since you picked up Pokemon Red and Blue, the coming of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Gamestop has just opened up the online preorders for both titles, so if you are among the legions of fans scrambling to get your own copy, jump to the site and secure yourself the latest in the line of Pokemon titles.

The new games will feature:

  • Worldwide battles and trading using WiFi.

  • Real-time clock feature changes the time of day based on the DS clock. The Pokemon you can catch vary based on the region and the time of day. Also, certain Pokemon moves' power changes based on time.

  • More elaborate Pokemon Contests. Players can use the accessories and dress up their Pokemon. Players make "Poffin" out of Berries to rasie their Pokemon's contest stats.

  • New dual-type Pokemon, new/altered moves, and new special abilities add to the already deep strategy of Pokemon battling.

  • 3-D enviornments and updated graphics.

I think the only man who has the courage and fortitude to put into words what I can't express at this moment is the man, the legend, the artist-formally-known-as-a-symbol, Prince:

If I gave you diamonds and pearls
Would you be a happy boy or a girl
If I could I would give you the world
But all I can do is just offer you my love

Thanks NinRac for the Tip!

Preorders through the stores are nicer...Considering no one gets fired for lack of preorders online... :(

Damn this job! It has made me into its like...blunt advertising tool...

The addition of online battles is nice, but otherwise Nintendo has unfortunately done nothing to revamp this series at all.

If you've played one Pokemon game, you've played them all.

Haven't played this series since it first hit the states, so I might pick this up. Even though Nintendo's done very little to each game, I feel enough iterations have passed that it might feel fresh to me after all these years (which I think might be 10 at this point).

I like this series but I'm wondering if I should hold off on this and wait for the "Third" revision of this (think 'Platinum') cause you just KNOW they'll make one. I waited til Emerald was released and I had very good experience with it so I don't know.

I'm have to disagree with you Jack.

The Pokémon series has evolved (pun intended) quite a bit throughout its lifetime. The second generation introduced breeding, new moves, new Pokémon, and two new types. The third generation brought us double battles as well as contests, new type combinations, and more strategic abilities for older Pokémon. Along with the inclusion of many more Pokémon, the series has grown to be Nintendo's premier system seller. Pokémon will easily become the most profitable franchise in gaming history by the end of its lifetime.

After celebrating its 10th anniversary this summer, theres no way this puppy will die down. The competitive aspect of the Pokémon video and card games are still very strong. The game still sells very strongly here in America as well, its just not quite as visible because of many closet fans (Which I used to be myself, but now I'm out and proud.)

=)

Woohoo!

I don't think it's worth waiting for the next iteration because there's always going to be another one around the corner, so you may as well enjoy now. Besides once Battle Revolution comes out for the Wii you'll be kicking yourself for missing out on their connectivity.

I don't even have a problem with the fact that trades are one way now: once you load your old Pokémon to the DS, there's no returning them to GameBoy or GameCube. Gotta keep forging ahead, ya know.

I hope we get a good group of people here willing to trade Diamond/Pearl friends' codes. I still get plenty of fun out of this particular franchise. (And yes the franchise just turned 10.)

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
