Sam & Max Hit the Wii?

samnmax_wii.jpg

Time to reminisce: One of my favorite games of all time is Sam & Max Hit the Road. I have fond memories of playing it constantly on my 386 along with Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards (in retrospect, my parents were probably pretty irresponsible to let me play those games at age 11). But I spent many hours with Sam, an “anthropomorphic dog in detective's clothing,” and Max, a "hyperkinetic rabbity thing,” searching for clues to the solve the mystery of the missing sasquatch (and I even learned new words like “gratuitous” with catchphrases such as “Gratuitous violence is my forte!”). In addition to the main mystery, I remember a bunch of fun mini-games like battleship, dress-up (I dressed Sam up as the Pope), and Wak-A-Rat at the carnival. You could also visit fun locations such as the world's largest ball of twine, the Mount Rushmore dinosaur tarpit and Snuckey’s truck stops.

Despite my love for the game, I have yet to subscribe to GameTap. But a recent job posting at Telltale Games (the developer of the GameTap Sam & Max game) caused speculation that Sam & Max may be coming to the Wii, so I may not have to. There’s no denying a demand for Sam & Max out there and if done right, it could be an amazing Wii game. Let us pray.

Sam & Max, and other point-and-click adventures are long due for a renaissance on the DS and Wii. The recent Hotel Dusk game for the DS is apparently quite an awesome game.

You don't have to get GameTap to get the new Sam and Max games. You can either buy a season pass or the games individually from the TellTale website. Just thought you might want to know before you subscribed.

Actually, the 'crazy talk' comment was in regards to a forum poster wanting to trade in his purchase for a Wii version when it hadn't even been announced. Telltale hasn't said anything one way or the other about a Wii version yet.

I've got my season pass. You just get them 2 weeks after Gametap posts each episode.

$32.95 is a bargain for 6 2-hour games
