Skype Reference In PSP Firmware

The homebrew community has struck gold with the latest find. Allegedly Sony will be joining forces with Skype to provide PSP users some peer to peer telephony action. Their parnership is hearsay at this point but one hacker found a reference to Skype in a decrypted version of vshmain.prx from PSP firmware v3.10. So far, nothing has been confirmed by either company. In the past decrypters found references to GPS in the firmare, then Sony released the GPS add-on for the PSP.
What will this do to the PSP? Is Sony trying to make the PSP more like a phone? With Skype functionality on a PSP, users could feasibly call one another. Now if they implement the the SkypeOut technology to call regular phones, then you could use your PSP like a telephone. In the handheld market, the PSP is an interesting device. The Nintendo DS has an extensive library of great games, while PSP has some other muscle behind its belt. For those looking for a GPS device, they could buy a PSP will so much other functionality. The homebrew scene is hopping on the PSP, and if this Skype thing goes through, you have yourself a bulky sexy device that can do just about anything.
