Sony To Europe: F*ck You
So, last major PS3 launch, still no system-selling games, and a price tag that requires a loan: surely, you'd think, Sony can keep their act together long enough to put the PS3 launch catastrophe behind us, right? Surely, you'd be willing to say with a foolishly naive certainty, Sony wouldn't go out of their way to make this worse.
You'd be so, so, sososo wrong. Because, you see, Sony has revised/replaced the PS3 hardware to remove the PS2 legacy technology, and the result is reduced PS2 backward compatibility:
The downgrade features "a new combination of hardware and software emulation [that] will enable the PS3 to be compatible with a broad range of original PlayStation titles, and a limited range of PS2 titles." You know that when Sony, whose capacity for lies, bluster and gross misrepresentation is pretty much infinite, cops to "a limited range" of PS2 titles, the situation must be dire. Rather than let the rage begin early, Sony is waiting until the PS3's launch day, March 23, to publish the list of supported titles. So smart; so utterly clueless.
Additional titles will become compatible through PSN downloads, eventually, but it doesn't sound good, according to one Sony spokesperson:
"The backwards compatibility is not going to be as good as in the US and Japanese models."
There. They said it themselves. Who ya gonna call?

Of course, they'll probably begin to downgrade the PS3s worldwide, not including the PS2 Legacy hardware will cut down on production costs.
Yeah, it's gonna suck to have to wait for some of those firmware updates, but no more than it's sucked to get Psychonauts on the back-compat list for the Xbox 360.
Wow. That was an incredibly stupid move on their part. Given the PS2's immense popularity in the Europe and the US, they have now made their own last-gen system even more of a direct competitor with the PS3. This wouldn't be so bad if the PS2 wasn't still such a viable platform with great games like Final Fantasy XII and God of War 2 supporting it.

Wow, that's pretty bad. One of the only reasons I was considering an early purchase of the PS3 was to play all the good PS2 games that I missed out on.
Now Sony can go **** themselves.

I guess Sony doesn't really want win this console war with the way they're acting lately. I also think it's rather obscene to think that a cat and bunny would have anything to do with each other. The very IDEA!!
So...Sony just doesn't want to sell ANY PS3s, right? I mean, why else would they shit all over an entire continent? Right?
The PS3 has GOT to be part of some 'Springtime For Hitler" scheme that sony has cooked up. I heard next week that sony will start killing a puppy for every console they sell.
