Spore and SimCity Coming To DS
Electronic Arts officially announced that the games Spore and SimCity are coming to DS along with My Sims for both Wii and DS. The announcement was made at EA’s quarterly conference call.
Will Wright, creator of Spore and chief designer at Maxis, has mentioned the possibility of making a version of Spore for the DS. Previously the game was stated as a PC-only release, now DS owners can rejoice for the kingdom of Spore is in your hand.
The announcement of My Sims for both Wii and DS has me wondering about possible connectivity between the consoles. I would love to see the info shared between the DS and Wii. Some kind of wireless transfer between the games would be amazing.
EA CFO Warren Jenson commented on developing for Nintendo’s systems, “We have shifted and acquired resources and are attacking these successful platforms.”
EA CEO Larry Probst seems confident about the future of the Nintendo Wii,
With regards to the Wii platform, at least initially, it seems like it’s expanding the overall market and expanding the demographic of users and people that purchase software, so we think that’s a good thing. We’ll have to see if that’s sustainable over time, but certainly [Nintendo’s] got off to a very encouraging start.
I’m glad to see EA embracing the portable possibilities of their products on the DS. SimCity will be a sure fire seller, along with My Sims. Part of the difficulty of getting into such games, is being tied down to a console to play them. The ability to pick up a DS and quickly play in spurts is perfect for these fun strategy games. I suspect that Spore will have some 2 player head to head mode where you can fight someone else’s creatures. The same type of connectivity could be used in My Sims, players could move into someone else’s neighborhood on another DS. The possibilities of connectivity are endless.

I remember something floating about how there will be a Spore for every platform, though not necessarily the same game that the PC is expecting.
Ah, I've been watching Spore for a long time now, so I'm really excited I'll be able to get it for my Wii :D Games and my PC don't mix.
wooooooah. nevermind. I read that wrong. Ugh, seems like I will still be sporeless.
I've been thinking about getting a DS for a while. I love SimCity and I am sure I will love SPORE; this will totally get me to buy one.
