Star Wars Next-Gen: The Force Unleashed, Website And Details

As we've previously noted, LucasArts has unveiled its first sortie into PS3 and Xbox 360 Star Wars gaming territory with announcement of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The game now has its own drool-worthy website, and LucasArts has released some juicy, if arcane, tidbits about how freaking cool the game will look: capitalizing upon advanced new technologies such as NaturalMotion's Euphoria animation tech, Pixelux Entertainment's Digital Molecular Matter and Havok's physics system, according to Gamasutra. That's a bunch of fancified techie-speak to me, but it sure sounds like fun.
The Force Unleashed takes place between the two film trilogies, a period any good Star Wars fan would love to play around with. George Lucas oversaw the development of the story, which puts players behind Darth Vader's "secret apprentice" and charges us with ridding the universe of Jedi. I'm sure you get to be a good guy...for you paladin types... but me? I wanna wipe them out. All of them.

You play as Darth Vader's secret apprentice.
While I should judge the game on its own merits, it seems to merely be a money-grabbing ploy from Lucasfilm, now that they have no more Star Wars movies on the horizon. Video games, action figures, comics books, and novels. The works, all tied into Force Unleashed! They have to keep Star Wars in the public's mind until the TV shows come out next year. It's one constant merchandising machine.

Maybe I'm just bitter it's not on the Wii.
