This Week in Gay Gamer - Week of 1/29

It’s that time again: Time to relive the past glorious week in gaming…
* Anti-video game lawyer Jack Thompson faces a disciplinary hearing. Gamers everywhere cross their fingers.
* First the Pope, now Tyra Banks wants us to stop playing games. Specifically, World of WarCraft. No way, lady!
* Microsoft's Peter Moore engages in more mud-slinging with Sony. Meanwhile, Sony says buying a Wii was an impulse buy. Can't we all just get along?
* Russian reader Blayne sends us magnificent fan art of Half-Life's hunky, four-eyed physicist Gordon Freeman. Also, we get Sims 2 machinima to the tune of Big Gay Al's "I'm Super, Thanks for Asking!"
* We got hot and bothered by the sweaty fighting in Virtua Fighter 5 and by... Harry Potter???
More of this week's highlights after the jump...
* God bless you, Virtual Console: This week we got MarioKart 64, Contra III: The Alien Wars, Bonanza Brothers and Comix Zone. But oops, Mario64's got a glitch.
* Not to be outdone by Nintendo, Xbox Live Arcade announces its 2007 releases, including Alien Hominid HD, Paperboy, Root Beer Tapper, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Worms. Hooray!
*Sony sticks to their guns about no rumblin' in the Sixaxis controller and gives us a fairly useless PSP update. Lame.
* Kratos, Kratos, Kratos. We can't get enough of God of War II, especially with the new trailer and opening cinematic!
* The Konami Gamers' Day yields news on Hellboy, Brooktown High, Castlevania, DDR and a new title from the Elebits creators called Dewy's Adventure.
* Lazy Wii guy is my new hero, as well as Gears of Wars scriptwriter Susan O'Connor, who also wrote BioShock.
* We drool over Final Fantasy XIII details (can't help it). Oh, and this boxed set didn't help either.
* Tired of cooking, Cooking Mama? Then get baking with Majesco's upcoming title, Cake Mania!
* Not good, just bad and ugly: The Girl Gamer (our own Faith Naked) goes behind the scenes and learns the ugly truth about the Miss Video Game Beauty Pageant.
* Ghostbusters lives! Thanks to Universal.
* Browser-based games are the best, especially when you're at inconvenient gaming locations, like work. So check out Infinite Mario Bros. and The Fancy Pants Adventure.
* Because we need another portable device to carry: We hear Dell might be making a handheld gaming system.
* And finally, Valentine's Day is a-coming. Let the gamer you love in your life know you care by sending him/her a Nintendo Valentine.

GOOD week. I guess.
OMG. Tyra's as scared of pandas as she is of dolphins. Bring the bitch down!
