Two Casual Gaming Vets Launch Rebel Monkey

rebel%20monkey.jpg

New casual game studio Rebel Monkey comes from some pretty solid stock, Nick Fortugno and Markaret Wallace. Fortugno and Wallace have been active in the casual gaming market with some serious titles under their collective belts.

Nick Fortugno is the Director of Game Design at Gamelab, and worked on Diner Dash, Plantasia, and Ayiti: The Cost of Life. He co-founded, organized and designed the Come Out and Play Street Games Festival in NY. Fortugno has also been involved in tabletop and live-action replaying design, including Seasons of Darkness, a five-year live-action game project featured on Showtime. Seasons of Darkness was also featured in the game design textbook Rules of Play. Fortugno teaches game design and interactive narrative design at Parsons The New School of Design in New York City.

Skunk studios was formed in the summer of 2001 who focuses on creativity and ingenuity behind their game design. Margaret Wallace was formerly cofounder and CEO of San Francisco-based casual game developer Skunk Studios, makers of Gutterball, QBeez and Tamale Loco.

Our eyes will be watching the Rebel Monkey. I was really impressed with Ayiti: The Cost of Life and Plantasia. If you have a few seconds on your hands, play some Plantasia. It’s got the micromanagement of Diner Dash, but in a magical garden with fairies and magical things.
