Well Excuuuuuuuse Me For 30 Minutes Of 80's Cartoons
In this crazy, humdrum world where certain fallen pop stars can shave their head in a split second, there is little one can really know for certain. I can, however, after this weekend, say this with all certainty: "I would rather be forced to play E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial on the Atari 2600 for eternity than being holed up in my bed trying to ride out the stomach flu for days."
Thank god, then, for the internet. What daytime television used to be good for when I was a kid, the internet works pretty well too--taking one's mind off the unceasing pleasure of spiking waves of nausea. Like a particularly obnoxious stint on People's Court, one thing was able to make me crack a smile. Thirty whole minutes of 80's cartoon openings!
From the opening sound (if you grew up in the 80's like I did) you will feel the touch of familiarity, like an old toy from the attic. There's some great stuff here. I must comment on the hilarious muscle-queen aspect of He-Man and the hags he lets in on his "little secret." Mostly, I'll let you discover it yourself. I do have one request: at least watch the segment that begins around the 19th minute, for an 80's moment with Link that is beyond priceless. Why didn't he sound like that in Twilight Princess? Take note, Nintendo. Next game, no silent protagonist--we want a Link with attitude!

Holy cow. I've seen this before! And it's insane! But so awesome!
And despite not technically being a child of the 80's, I remember a distressing number of these.

it's pretty well made! Though I think it's missing quite a few cartoons, but it's overall good. Also, I think some opening should have been dropped for others =3
PS: Dinobots are LOVE~
well, it'd be impossible to have them ALL. there were TONS of cartoons from the 80's. this just happens to be a random sampling of them with a focus on filmation releases. i could write a 30 line list right now of cartoons that aren't on the video.
So awesome!
OK, now I know why that cartoon was called "The REAL Ghostbusters", what the fuck was the Ghostbusters cartoon with the gorilla? I've never even heard of it!
Here's why: There was a crappy live action Saturday morning show called the Ghost Busters back in 1975 starring the two stars from F-Troop and a um gorilla. It was really bad.
Then in 1984 the Ghost Busters movie we all know and love came out. So when it was announced that a cartoon version was coming out, Filmation had to get in on it since they already had a series by the same name almost 10 years earlier. So in 1986 we had Filmation reclaiming their original name, and the cartoon from the movie forced to use a slightly different name: the Real Ghostbusters.
Filmation has a long history of this kind of leechiness. They were going to come out with a cartoon called Spider Woman, and when Marvel got wind of it they quickly created Spider-Woman themselves. Filmation then had to go with the name "Web Woman."
Thus endeth the lesson. O:)
Starting at 16:00 i was yelling "Hey I remember this!" :) thanks Pirate prince for the link!
How I miss the cartoons of the good old days... Say anyone notice how well animated these shows are? wow!
Ps: Hey! where's Darkwing duck? And the gummy bears!
Where is Jem and the Holograms? Its omission is truly outrageous.
truly truly truly outrageous.
Dammit, Pirate Prince! Now I'll have the Inspector Gadget theme in my head all day long!
