Xbox 360 Gets Vewy Vewy Quiet DVD Dwive

Xbox-Scene reports that Microsoft, at long last and after much understandable whining from 360 owners, has begun using BenQ's new VAD6038 DVD-ROM drive in production of its Xbox 360 consoles. The BenQ replaces the noisier Toshiba-Samsung and Hitachi-LG drives, and initial responses confirm that it does indeed run much more quietly, perhaps loading your 360 junk a bit faster and smoother.
While the story popped up today, Microsoft has in fact been using the new, quieter BenQ drive since November - although since they didn't change all production lines at once, anyone gifted with an Xbox 360 for the holidays stands a chance of having a new polite drive or an older tooth-gnasher. Presumably, as the production process completes the changeover, fewer and fewer new 360's will use the older drive...leading us into a new era of whisper-quiet 360s...at least until they try to sell us one with built-in HD-DVD, HDMI, or something else we don't know we need yet.
Conversely, it could all be a crock of shit.
Anyone with a newish 360 (manufacture date of Nov '06 or later) have some truth to serve up hot and tasty?
