Strange Euro PS3 TV Commercial, Take 5

Sometimes, when I'm confused about something, all it take is for someone to explain things to me in rhyme. It really helps clear up almost anything. Like the time I asked my parents how babies were made. They plunked me down and said, "When two people love each other, sometimes one becomes a mother."

So with all this heated debate over Blu-Ray or HD, I'm glad that Sony's current ad campaign is able to just clear away all the hype and hoopla and fancy tech-speak and just lay it out through an over-long and pretty well made commercial:

"It's the Ray for Today."

Phew... doesn't that just feel a whole lot better? Now you just know what you should buy!

I don't think an ad this long airs on TV, looks more like a cinema ad. I love how they now use the button symbols as DNA, best use of them yet. Other than that, this ad makes sense only in that it doesen't, and to that end gets thousands of views on that basis alone.

It's a parody of the Marks and Spencer commercials shown in the UK, which is why it's not making much sense to non-UK viewers!! M&S sell their premium food range with ads like "This is not just any beef, this is Scottish Aberdeen Angus beef" etc

Destrudo said:

Yeah, but M&S show the food and the woman doing the voiceover is always in mid-climax because its so damn good.

What we've got here is a guy in the process of making a cup of tea with a dreary monotone (possibly his wife) telling us about how great blue ray is at making tea...

Oh and why don't you buy a PS3. Its great because you don't have to look for sugar, PS3 will do that for you. By the way, the old rules don't apply, but don't worry we've got a whole new set.

I have always liked the commercials Sony throws at us. They have NEVER been about games, it has always been all about weirdness.

Is it better to make a forgettable commercial that features the PS3 all the time or a commercial that barely has anything to do with the PS3 but sticks with your mind?

Just goes to show how cheap Sony are, I have the same mug set as the guy in the video, and its from Argos!

Even with how much of a drag that commercial was, I still think it was better than the PS3 commercials we have in the states.

Are we sure that was sugar in that box? That's the same box I keep my cubes of LSD in. That's the trouble with commercial makers these days...too hopped up on drugs.

I think this commericial was sent to us from the future. Blue Ray...tomorrow's antique today!

I'd hate to be that guy's relative(s) when he dies. Think about having to move all that shit out.

Why the hell is that guy watching a VCR!?!?

The Tek Guy said:

@Ty Cos he knows he can get that and 1000 great VHS classics for the price of one PS3. Screw HD, I'd take Ghostbusters on a VHS and an old 40" TeeVee along with a nice cold beer in a comfy Lazyboy over Ghostrider on BD on a 40" crappy LCD sitting on the bare floor drinking what trickles down the walls on my 1-room-appartment any day.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
