DS Games That Ought To Be

Pocket Gamer has drummed up an impressively spot-on list of 10 games that should be on the DS, but aren't. If you're like me, you've probably had a few "Ooh-this-game-would-be-so-good-on-[insert platform here]" moments, but this list truly is exemplary. For instance: A LucasArts adventure collection for the DS, that would bundle together classics such as Maniac Mansion, LOOM, Full Throttle, and The Secret of Monkey Island. With one fell swoop, LucasArts could hand a massive install base an entire generation of S.C.U.M.M. engine games just bloated with nostalgia.
Or we could go the obvious route: Okami DS. Pocket Gamer points out that Okami's color depth might be beyond the limits of the handheld, but the DS certainly does do cell shading...and let's face it: stylus + brush = awesome.
How about GoldenEye DS? Or another retro trip with Marble Madness DS? Check out the full list for some even less likely, but just as inviting, ideas. What games would you like to see in double-screen hand held action?

wow what version of maniac mansion is this? it looks like day of the tentacle.
I think you can put ScummVM on the DS, which is kind of like having all of those games on the DS.
Also, could they do a Goldeneye DS? Doesn't Rare have the rights?
I can't think of anything I'd like to see particularly for the DS, but I would love to see Frequency/Amplitude on the PSP.
I'd love to see the Sam&Max games get ported to the D.S. Now would be the perfect time to bring back point-and-click adventure games. Sam&Max for the Wii? Now that would make me piddle a little.
I have tried ScummVM on the DS (=X) and I didn't really get into it but it was a good thought. If I remember correctly it didn't support the audio voice files on Sam&Max his the road but it might have been flash-card-size limitations. I do also remember having to compress it a ton just to get it onto there to begin with.
The old Scumm games are just a tad too big to fit on the DS's screen, quite unfortunately.
As is, that is. Retrofitting them to the platform really wouldn't be that big a chore for a pro game team, and the core gameplay and stories are as fantastic now as they ever were. I'd wager it wouldn't even be particularly difficult to find people who'd love to do it. It'd be like an homage thing, restoring our classics.
If Lucasarts had even two brain cells left to rub together, they'd put together a Scumm remastering team to hit both the DS and the Wii. These games deserve to live on in more than just emulation.
I mean seriously: Day of The Tentacle, Monkey Island 1 and 2, Sam and Max, Full Throttle, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Maniac Mansion...
Okami on the DS??? You are joking, right?
Now, I may piss off a few Nintendo fanboys and girls when I say this but remember...The DS is pretty much a weak N64, and not a PS2...
Don't deny the truth...
To answer the above question, that's a fan remake of 'Maniac Mansion' for the PC.
Also, I would be very, very surprised if a GoldenEye DS game ever saw the light of day, considering that Microsoft owns the rights through its ownership of Rare. It's the same reason we won't see GoldenEye, Battletoads, or Perfect Dark on the VC. Apparently though, the Donkey Kong games are free from this problem, probably because they were developed using a pre-existing Nintendo property.
I don't know about Goldeneye DS being a problem considering Rare developed It's Mr. Pants, Sabre Wulf, and Banjo Pilot, all for the GBA, and--as far as I know--all wholly owned by Rare and/or Microsoft.
