Gears of War Movie Confirmed
Variety reports that New Line Cinema has chainsawed its way to victory in obtaining the feature rights for Gears of War. CAA conducted the auction, which included a 21-page treatment by the author of "Collateral" and "Derailed," Stuart Beattie. The producers will be Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey "via their Temple Hill banner." No actors have been named, as of yet.
While the Gears of War story was not the deepest, a movie would give that story a chance to be fully realized. Might we see some hot Marcus on Dom action? Probably not, but those of you who would love to see it happen can always dream. We'll keep an eye on this one and let us hope that it doesn't get cock-blocked by an over the top budget like Halo. Any video game based film has the potential of being the one to break the perception that these kinds of adaptations simply blow (with the exception of Uwe Boll's films)...cross your fingers.

ive lost all faith in video game movies ever since Doom. but then again, Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat were entertaining as hell (no matter how crappy MK was, it was entertaining, in a good way). but if they try to make GoW story-driven, i might just have to shoot myself
