Hands On With Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Multiplayer
So, I managed to drag my jet lagged carcass on to the expo floor and was thrilled to be able to get a short hands on with Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for the DS. Only the multiplayer mode was available for checking out but it was a fun little experience.
In the game you get to play alternately as Link and and his armored knight enemies. As Link, you make your way through a maze, collecting Tri-forces and bringing them back to your "base". The opposing player controls three armored knights and you try to catch Link by tracing lines on the touch screen to create a path. Once one of the knights catches Link, the sides switch with the Link player taking on the role of the knights, and vice versa. Various powerups are sprinkled throughout the maze such as super speed which you can use to help carry those heavy Tri-forces that weigh you down.
It was very cute and a fun diversion but I was really hoping to play some of the actual game itself. It did however afford me the opportunity to see the sweet Wind Waker style graphics and try out a new Zelda experience, which, as I'm sure you'll agree, is always a treat.
