Lego Batman: The Videogame Details

While we've known that a spiritual cousin to the Lego Star Wars games featuring the Dark Knight has been in the works for some time, TT Games has recently put out some details and corrected a few misunderstandings. (Ah, a studio that puts out...) Director Tom Stone corrected the suggestion in this week's Variety that TT Games has been bought by Warner, who owns DC Comics. Not so.
Lego Batman: The Videogame isn't based on any of the movies, TV shows, or specific stories from the comics, but since there's been so much Batman storytelling, I'll be interested to see if the game's story is original or derivative. We do know that familiar sights such as the Penguin, the Joker, and Arkham Asylum will feature prominently, for whatever that's worth.
As for gameplay, Stone's answer was short and sweet:
"We're going to do exactly what we did with Lego Star Wars."
Batman will be coming in 2008 to the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS and PC - and as to what other Lego-ized franchises we might one day be seeing, Stone teased:
"We're talking to a lot of people. You can speculate all you want."
Ok: I'd like to see Lego God of War. Get to work.
