Mailbox: "Beep Boop Beeeeeeep!"

Is there nothing that the Star Wars brand can't be slapped on? From Mr. Potato Head to pet costumes to cereal boxes (actually, Episode II cereal was very delicious; think Kix with Lucky Charms marshmallows shaped like R2D2 and Darth Vader and Yoda... yummy) and lord knows what else... now the U.S. Postal Service is teaming up with the multi-kazillion dollar franchise. Here's a bit from the press release:
Tomorrow morning in neighborhoods and street corners not so far, far away, hundreds of official U.S. Postal Service blue collection boxes will be transformed into look-alikes of Star Wars character R2-D2 to promote an exciting new adventure on which the Postal Service is embarking with Lucasfilm Ltd. As the legion of Star Wars fans around the world first learned 30 years ago, R2-D2 is the feisty astromech droid who embodies the trust and dependability for which the Postal Service is so renowned.
The photo is of one I stumbled upon in Times Square. The R2-D2 mailboxes are only "temporary" they say, and as you can see, they have a website address printed on them -- www.uspsjedimaster.com -- which apparently "gives clues about the real meaning behind this unprecedented promotion." All the site has so far is a clip taken from New Hope with a cheesy (and blaspemous) cut-in of a mysterious hand jamming a letter envelope into R2's robot face. Then it says, "On March 28 Two Powerful Forces Will Unite." Translation: On March 28th, they'll unveil a new Star Wars stamp. *shrugs*

Freakin' awesome!
...........is this seriously what we pay taxes for? that's just retarded.
