MySims Wii, Character Creation Video

I'm sorry, I just have to say this: I don't like The Sims. In fact, I totally hate them. I hate their little babble voices, the endless consumerism of their lives, the utter tedium of the games. This is the kind of game where your only reward for labor upon labor is a better bed, a better TV, a bigger house and (if you're lucky) a male on male kiss followed by someone electrocuting themselves in their own puddle of urine. I've played a lot of tedious strategy games, put hours upon hours into leveling characters, and this still makes me want to jump out a window. It's just too close to reality--if I wanted a reminder of the ennui of our lives (work, make money, die) I would ask for it.

So imagine my apathy when MySims was announced for the Wii. The Sims, but cuter! In keeping with the theme of the Mii creation video from X-Play, watch this and try to deny you aren't struck with the cold sweat of horror.

Agreed.

I don't like sports games, I'm bored to tears by WWII fps, I don't have the patience for strategy games, but I understand their appeal.

The Sims, however. I. Just. Don't. Get.

I think you just have to be sadistic to enjoy The Sims... I have FAR too much fun tormenting mine. For example, child Sims always know who their father is, even if they've never met him. This means that if they see mommy kissing some other guy (or girl, for that matter), they stand there and weep softly, their relationship with their mom decreasing every time they witness a new act. My Sims also have a man-eating plant on the front lawn that eats every nanny they hire. This has resulted in a bit of a ghost problem, and the ghosts keep literally scaring my Sims and occasionally their neighbours to death. It's great :D

Eh, different taste, I don't like sports games and /most/ driving games, but I love the Sims, and I always will, especially the expansion packs (packs, not the stuff packs)

And besides, what other game lets you take control of people like celebrities, TV/Movie characters and such, not many that I remember.

MySims looks pretty good, but it looks to more like an Animal Crossing rip to me.

I love the Sims. I just love it. And growing up in a small Christian community of only 3000 people it was the only PC game you could buy in the local computer store that had any sort of romantic or gay overtones without anyone having a clue! I also enjoyed the designing aspect of building a house, because I was a drafting and architectural junky back in those days and seriously thought it would be my career. I am now a news writer. Sometimes things don't always go the way we plan it. But I can't wait to have this game. I am SO getting my Wii next month (I hope!)
