Rumorish: No Metroid 3 Until 2008?
If you pre-ordered Metroid Prime 3: Corruption through Best Buy, you might have gotten a letter talking trash about the release date - which the corporate diviners at Best Buy have pushed back until December 31, 2007. The previous release date has been 3/15/07, which is still listed on Best Buy's site, but since the Ides of March is pretty much right now, I think it's fair to conclude that we won't be seeing MP3 this Thursday.
I know, I know, these release dates are stabs in the dark - but if you're an obsessive release date clockwatcher like I am, you might like to prepare for disappointment in advance. I was briefly hysterical last year when three awesome Nintendo games were rumored to have been pushed back until Christmas '07. Even then, Ninty sources did promise that "MP3, Super Mario Galaxy and Phantom Hourglass will all release in 2007." So maybe Best Buy is being a little catty and picking the last possible moment of 2007 as their new arbitrary release date? We already know we won't be getting Metroid till it's perfect, which is as it should be. And perfection, the good lord knows, doesn't come with an ETA...
Anyhoo, my fellow clockwatchers can scribble this into their release date calendar notebooks; everyone else, go back to holding your pants and hopping from foot to foot like a little kid who has to pee - God of War II is shipping as we speak.

Ah... this brings back fond memories of the original Metroid and the Justin Bailey code. Even if the game gets pushed back, I'm still glad one of my favorite heroines is getting a new title. Samus Aran rocks!
While I'm all in favor of games getting a good polish before being released, Nintendo seems to be repeating their mistakes with the GameCube. They're pushing back a large number of big-name titles that are supposed to carry the system, which will cause it to lose momentum during the latter end of the year, possibly during the holiday season. This will be quite bad for them, because this is when the PS3 is expected to pick up the pace.
Oh man! I saw this at work while having to do the whole alt-tab hide-the-screen-from-the-boss. I didn't realize the game got pushed back THAT far. Yikes!
